DESCRIPTION

Skipjaq is a VC-backed startup focused on automating performance management for the next wave of cloud-based applications. Currently, we are developing a SaaS optimisation platform that utilises machine learning to automatically tune and test java based system running within AWS.

We are looking for a highly talented Staff Engineer to work within a small highly functional team, implementing our core optimisation engine. The team works closely with our data scientists to implement key machine learning algorithms whilst delivering frequently into our production environments.

This is a great opportunity to join a new team, solving unique and complex problems whilst using the latest technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, InfluxDB, Grafana, Kafka, AWS, Ansible, Redshift etc.

You'll be a critical team member making a big contribution from day one!

REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 2 years Java experience in a commercial development environment.
  • Experience with Docker, AWS Cloud, Spring MVC, JPA, SQL, Linux, Python is a plus.
  • A strong degree in Computer Science or a related subject.
  • Experience in agile based project development.
  • Good to have knowledge of a tools: Jira, Tomcat, Maven, Git, IntelliJ, JMeter.
  • Fluent English.
TASKS
  • Java programming.
  • Integrate open source solutions into Skipjaq’s system like ELK, InfluxDB.
  • Be involved in the complete software development life cycle including: requirements analysis, design, construction and testing.
  • Actively participate in used technologies and project quality.
  • Communicate information clearly and concisely, sharing an appropriate level of detail and using the appropriate communication methods.
